An attorney who previously served as a northwest Indiana judge was shot to death by a client Wednesday afternoon in Hobart.
Officers responding to reports of shots fired found 64-year-old Tracy Edward Page dead with four gunshot wounds about 12:40 p.m. in his home. in the 1200 block of West 4th Street, according to statement from Hobart police and the Lake County Coroner’s Office.
An off-duty officer who lives nearby had used his police radio to report multiple shots in the area as well as multiple people “screaming and yelling” and a person calling for help, police said.
The suspect, an 83-year-old Cedar Lake, Indiana, man who police described as “a long time friend and client” of Page, was taken into custody when officers arrived. Charges against him were expected to be filed Friday.
An autopsy Thursday morning determined Page died of multiple gunshot wounds and his death was ruled a homicide, according to police.
Page worked as an attorney with the firm Thiros & Thiros, according to the firm’s website. He served as a magistrate judge for the Superior Court of Lake County, Indiana, from 1984 to 2000, according to his LinkedIn profile.
